Florence Ellinwood Allen (1884-1966) was a lawyer and judge, of Cleveland, Ohio. The collection consists of correspondence, diaries, speeches, biographical and genealogical material, articles by or about Judge Allen, awards, scrapbooks, and newspaper clippings. Includes material on women's suffrage, outlawry of war, Tennessee Valley Authority case, and rights to outer space. Correspondents include Nancy Astor, Newton D. Florence Ellinwood Allen (March 23, 1884 – September 12, 1966) was a United States Circuit Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. She was the first woman to serve on a state supreme court and one of the first two women to serve as a United States federal judge. In 2005, she was inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame.
